Tītike Kapa Haka
All students in our school participate and perform annually in our Otago Polyfest week, celebrating either the Māori or Pasifika cultures in dance, song and performance.
In addition to this, we have an enhancement programme, open to all students (maximum roll of 60 ākonga), that runs year long. This programme teaches ākonga more deeply about Māori culture through kapa haka, and this rōpū | group often performs on behalf of our school. They learn a formal kapa haka routine each year, including waiata Tira, whakaeke, moteatea, waiata a ringa, poi, haka and whakawātea, to understand more about the role kapa haka holds in te ao Māori.
