Mandarin

We host a Mandarin Language Assistant (MLA) each year, through the Confucius Institute based at the University of Canterbury. 

All classes have lessons with our MLA each week, with the exception of our Takutai (NE) classes. Students learn simple words initially (counting, colours, countries), and over the course of their time in our school progress to reciting sentences, poetry, and introductions in Mandarin.  

The MLA teaches students about cultural arts, crafts and traditional performance, as well as geographical information about China and its history.
